3 Reasons Why I’m Giving My Baby a Probiotic

This post is sponsored by Evivo, but the content and opinions expressed here are my own.

When our first son was a newborn, he had such terrible gas and tummy issues. It disrupted his sleep and caused him to be extremely fussy. It took us a couple weeks of going through this before figuring out that we needed to put him on a probiotic to help his digestive system and gut health. With our second son, we knew that probiotics were helpful, so when he also started to get fussy, we ordered some right away. Even if your little ones aren’t fussy or gassy, probiotics are great for their gut and overall health - regardless. A gut microbiome with too much bad bacteria can lead to a lot of things such as colic, diaper rash, eczema, sleep, and even autoimmune diseases. Good gut health is super important for baby’s health and happiness. That’s why I’m sharing three reasons why I’m giving our baby a probiotic.

We recently switched from the infant probiotic we were using to Evivo. Only Evivo contains the superior strain of B. infantis, EVC001* and is clinically-proven to reduce bad gut bacteria by 80%. So, we decided it’s the best probiotic for babies and we should use it with Luke. Evivo starts working right away to help reduce bad gut bacteria and help good gut bacteria thrive. Some of these bad bacteria have been linked to long-term conditions, so acting now helps keep our baby happy and healthy long into his future.

Reason 1: Sleep
To a new mama, sleep is one of the MOST important things. If you and baby aren’t sleeping well, it can throw almost everything else off. With my first son, sleep was a massive issue and it robbed me of a ton of joy in that newborn season of his life. So for me, I’m willing to do anything that will help my baby sleep better so that this season of life is as joyful as it can be. That’s one of the main reasons we make sure to give our babies probiotics. 52% of moms giving their baby Evivo notice baby’s nighttime sleep is longer/more consistent. So often, babies get woken up from an upset tummy, disrupting their sleep and creating poor sleep patterns. If you can use Evivo and help to avoid that, I’d say that’s a win.

Reason 2: Baby’s Health
Of course, your children’s health is always of the utmost importance - it is for me as well. That is why I want to do all I can to protect their gut health, which is correlated to so much of their overall health and well-being. So often, we only deal with health issues as they come, but what’s most important is to be mindful of how we can be proactive and prevent any health issues before they arrive. 9 out of 10 babies born in the US have a low functioning gut microbiome due to the lack of good bacteria needed for a healthy gut. This can easily be fixed just by implementing Evivo into baby’s routine. Also, the first 6 months of a baby’s life are critical for proper immune and metabolic development. Too much bad bacteria in the gut early in life is linked to an increased rate of diaper rash, colic, eczema, and allergies. So it’s important to start on the probiotics early with your babies.

Reason 3: Baby’s Happiness
It’s so sad to witness your baby experiencing colic, gas, fussiness and discomfort. All we want to do as moms is to keep our babies safe and happy. The ‘happy’ can be quickly overshadowed when your baby is having digestion issues due to poor gut health. 65% of moms report a decrease in colic symptoms, such as gassiness and fussiness, after giving baby Evivo. We also have tried products like infant gas drops for our baby, but what I love and prefer about Evivo is it’s not only fixing the current issue, but it’s also setting your baby up for long-term gut health, too. That way I’m dealing with the issue at the source, the bad bacteria in baby’s gut, while also being proactive and preventing it in the future. I’m so grateful we haven’t experienced a diaper rash issue with our sweet babies, however a ton of parents do. 71% of parents notice less/no diaper rash after putting their baby on Evivo. So if you’re struggling with this, I’d highly recommend giving it a try.

This is  why we have our two kiddos on probiotics and why we think it’s important to start them on a quality probiotic early in life. I’m so thrilled to have found Evivo, and I’m super excited about the fact that it contains the superior strain of B. infantis EVC001*. It’s so encouraging that it is clinically-proven to reduce bad gut bacteria by 80%. I love being able to use products like this that I confidently feel are supporting my child’s long term health.
